World Mental Health Day – 10th October

October 8, 2019

This Thursday, 10th October, is World Mental Health Day.

This day is recognised by the World Health Organisation and is supported around the globe by local, national and international organisations. The objective is to raise awareness and gather support around mental health issues and to encourage us all to look after our own mental wellbeing.

The particular theme for this year is suicide prevention, as set by the World Federation for Mental Health and supported by the International Association for Suicide Prevention and United for Global Mental Health.

According to WHO, every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. A leaflet has been produced to provide suggestions how we can take 40 seconds of action to support suicide prevention. This can be viewed and downloaded here.

At Ownzone, we provide space for therapists, counsellors and healers to work with those with mental health issues.  We have done our best to create an environment of calm and privacy amidst comfortable surroundings. To mark the 10th October, we are offering all those who sign up for Ownzone membership two free sessions, which they can offer either to existing clients, or maybe to support someone who may just need someone to talk to.
