Maria Radoje
I offer a music centred psychotherapy called Guided Imagery and Music, (GIM) and Breath Body Mind Practices.
I am a classically trained cellist and have worked in the music industry as a performer, teacher and lecturer for many years. I qualified as a music therapist more than 25 years ago and have extensive experience working in adult and older adult mental health in the NHS and charitable sectors.
I have also worked with women experiencing trauma, performing artists struggling with anxiety and depression, and trainee therapists, particularly arts psychotherapists.
I am an HCPC Registered Music Therapist, Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery, Mandala Facilitator (CM certificate) and Breath Body Mind Teacher Level 1.
I offer a creative approach to therapy focusing on Guided Imagery and Music, (GIM) which is a music-centred depth approach that uses gentle relaxation techniques and selected sequences of music to support you to explore issues.
The music is a catalyst and container for the imagery and the listening process can reconnect you to your inner resources, develop resilience and strengthen the sense of self, by linking unconscious and conscious processes. Processing may also be aided by mandala drawing to help reflect on the imagery, and I have undertaken training with Suzanne Fincher in the use of mandalas for personal growth and development, and have a strong awareness of the archetypal nature of imagery, and how it can develop over time.
I believe in treating the whole person, and can also integrate Breath Body Mind exercises and Coherent Breathing where appropriate to help balance the nervous system. This can be especially helpful for people experiencing trauma reactions or those who have difficulties with focusing and attention, and can be a useful, safe first stage in therapy in order to stabilise, before deeper work can be undertaken.
“You really lifted me from such a dark place. It’s a wonderful, magical thing you do, helping people explore their own minds…the way you can remember so much detail and tune into people’s perception of themselves, truly astonishing instinct…” Stefan
“I just wanted to massively thank you for all the work we have done together. I feel that I have developed my inner understanding, increased awareness of my feelings, and consciously learned to act sensible and fair with myself. …I would really love to share the positive impact of these techniques with the world.” Raul
