Flora Scott
I am a registered Medical herbalist offering plant based medicine. As a holistic practitioner, I aim to help the whole person by addressing the root cause of illness and not merely the symptoms.
I am a qualified medical herbalist with a lifelong fascination for plants. After studying horticulture, I worked as a grower on organic herb farms and medicinal herb nurseries, which inspired a deep passion for herbal medicine.
I trained as a professional medical herbalist with Betonica School of Herbal Medicine for four years, graduating with distinction, covering in-depth studies of Materia medica, botany, pathology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nutrition and over 500 hours of clinical training.
I am dedicated to treating patients with herbs, whether it be a chronic condition or a short-term illness. As a member of the professional body, The National Institute of Medical Herbalists, I follow strict ethical standards in my practice and undertake regular continuing professional development.
Aside from treating patients, one of my favourite things to do is teach and pass on herbal knowledge. I connect people with plant medicine through running guided herb walks in rural Gloucestershire and am a member of the Association of Foragers. I also teach on a professional herbal medicine diploma. I am a passionate gardener and grow a number of medicinal herbs, which are processed into medicine.

The modern practice of Western medical herbalism combines traditional plant knowledge with scientific research and medical practice.
Medical herbalists are trained in plant medicine to prescribe medicinal plants to treat health concerns. They are trained in the same diagnostic skills as a GP and can safely prescribe herbal remedies that can be taken alongside other medications and treatments.
Herbalists take a holistic approach to treating illness and strive to treat the underlying cause of disease rather than merely the symptoms. They can prescribe personalised and bespoke remedies (tinctures, teas, powders, capsules, creams) tailored to the individual and recognise that no two patients are alike.
Full details and further information regarding consultations can be found on my website here.
“I have battled with anxiety and sleep troubles for a long time. I plucked up the courage and made an appointment to see Flora after a close friend recommended her. She took time to listen to me in my appointment, which was a great comfort. I now have a tincture to help with my anxiety, and although it is early days, I am beginning to feel more relaxed and in control.
I was also prescribed a tincture blend to take before bed, which has definitely improved my sleep problems over the last few months. I continue to see Flora for appointments, which are also an important part of my treatment, and I feel very supported.“
