Fiona McDonaugh

I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Craniosacral Therapist helping people of all ages restore their sense of well being.

About me

I have been a ‘body worker’ for more than 30 years. Initially I was a State Registered Nurse and then became a Rhythmical Massage Therapist working alongside a GP doctor’s surgery. In 2008 I qualified as a Craniosacral Therapist and since then have also trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. All the therapies complement each other although now I am focusing on Craniosacral Therapy combined with Somatic Experiencing.

The combination of Somatic Experiencing with Craniosacral Therapy allows the client to experience a safe, relaxed space in which to address the issues in their lives that unsettle and deplete them, this can be an event, illness, accident or other trauma.  The aim of the therapy is to resource and restore the client’s sense of wellbeing.

My husband and I have lived in Stroud for more than 35 years and have three adult sons.

What I offer

Life has a habit of throwing curve balls.  Sometimes they are just too much to assimilate or maybe they come too thick and fast. To all these events we have to react. Too much, too fast, too soon becomes a trauma.

Somatic Experiencing is an approach to increase awareness of how our nervous system reacts to the events that happen to us in our lives. In some instances help is required to navigate through this bodily awareness to restore our equilibrium and sense of wellbeing.  Somatic Experiencing can help with this.

Craniosacral Therapy also helps awaken the ‘Felt Sense’ of our bodily reactions and tensions. My clients will either remain seated or will, if they choose, lie down (fully clothed). During a session they will begin to relax and be able to experience how their body inwardly reacts to the events in their lives. The intentional touch of Craniosacral Therapy supports this process.

I work with people of all ages, including babies.
