Sarah Jane Heath
I am a trainee Gestalt Psychotherapist (working towards UKCP accreditation) offering individual psychotherapy for adults.
I am fascinated by the body’s intelligence and how the contexts in which we live impact our sense of wholeness. I have been supporting people one to one and in groups since 2002, as a social worker, a therapeutic work trainer and a holistic therapist.
I began my training in Gestalt Therapy in 2005 and have been integrating my learning and building my practice ever since. I recently returned to complete my post graduate diploma in order to achieve UKCP accreditation and offer Gestalt therapy to individuals in private practice. I have a particular interest in accompanying people through times of transition and challenge. My work is rooted in the dynamics of active consent, collaboration and openness to outcome.
I work as a psychotherapist in private practice in Stroud and Gloucester (including referrals from GARAS – Gloucester Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers). I also facilitate an online course for Breast Cancer Now called Moving Forwards, for people with a primary Breast Cancer Diagnosis.
I am currently able to offer low cost individual short and long term therapy for adults in Stroud, Gloucester and online. As a trainee Gestalt Psychotherapist working towards UKCP accreditation I charge £30 per session.
I work within the guidelines of the UKCP Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct and hold professional liability insurance. All communications are conducted in strict confidence and my work is supervised by an experienced and accredited Gestalt supervisor.
If you have any questions or wish to book an initial session, then do contact me. This can help us to see if it is the right therapy for you and if it feels right to work together.
Gestalt therapy is a form of talking therapy that includes an awareness of the body-mind, the soul and the context in which you live. It is focused on your present experience, encouraging self-awareness and self-acceptance through creative and collaborative exploration and offers support for your understanding of how the past continues to affect you and your patterns of relating. It considers you as a whole, encompassing thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. It focuses attention on the importance of healthy contact with oneself, others and the environment and supports spontaneity by helping you become more aware of your needs and how they are met, leading to increased authenticity and a more integrated sense of self.
