Couples and Relationship Therapist helping you explore patterns of relating, areas of challenge and resource and what might help you to move forwards.
Welcome, my name is Hannah and I am an experienced psychotherapist, couples/relationship therapist and supervisor. I bring an additional focus on the embodied aspects of the couples work drawing from my experience as a Body Movement Psychotherapist. I work with the whole person in mind, bringing experience and sensitivity to people’s different traditions, personal, cultural and spiritual beliefs and many different world views. I work with all orientations of couples, heterosexual and LGBTQ+.
Whatever the challenges you’re facing as a couple, I can help you open up conversations safely to be able to explore these issues in more depth. I aim to create an environment where you can both come and begin to really listen to one another and to feel heard. I endeavour to understand how life is for each one of you, without blame or taking sides. Together we can explore patterns of relating, how you get stuck and what might help you to move forwards.
Intimate relationships can bring much to our lives but if things aren’t going so well it can often leave people feeling frustrated and confused. It might be that you have come to a point in your relationship where you feel that you are just off track, stuck, in crisis or are even questioning whether to continue.
When difficulties occur it is common to get caught in a cycle of blame, criticism and resentment where nothing seems to change. By bringing attention and care to the relationship more connections can be made to feelings. This in turn can help identify and work with the underlying needs and issues, whereby new insights and possibilities can emerge.
Part of my approach is to include elements of playfulness and creativity when appropriate, and to utilize non-verbal, bodily felt aspects of the relationship to help guide, support and inform the work. We might use various exercises and tools to support communication, intimacy and connection.
The hope is that you will grow to understand how your emotional patterns from your past effect your relationship in the here and now, and how to make new choices to the benefit of you and the relationship. Together we can explore what is needed to help your relationship grow or, as sometimes is the case, how best to end.
