Martin Underwood

I am a pain recovery coach and Alexander Technique practitioner helping people who  experience ongoing pain that hasn’t improved with traditional methods.

About me

I help people who have “tried it all” and are seeking a different path to relief from persistent muscle and joint pain.

I go beyond the bits that hurt, looking at the entire system – body, mind, and daily habits – to uncover the deeper patterns keeping you stuck in pain. Rather than offering so-called quick fixes or isolated treatments, I focus on the underlying factors that contribute to discomfort, such as habitual movement patterns, emotional stress, and accumulated tension.

As a pain recovery coach, I guide you toward a deeper understanding of your pain and how it interacts with your daily life. Together, we explore how to release unhelpful tension, align the body to move with greater ease, and reintroduce fluid, natural movement into everyday activities. My approach is grounded in the latest neuroscience and movement principles, with a focus on teaching practical tools that can transform how you approach everyday activities – helping you move with less pain, more ease, and closer to reclaiming your life and the things that matter most to you.

As a movement specialist I can also offer Alexander Technique sessions where I combine the principles of the Alexander Technique with 10+ years of study in multiple rehabilitation approaches. My focus is on teaching practical tools that can transform how you move in your daily life so you can get your life back. Having trained and worked in London, I had the privilege of studying under the renowned Alexander Technique teacher Judith Kleinman. During this time, I worked with a diverse range of individuals, including desk workers, elite performers such as surgeons, athletes, and musicians, as well as those navigating stress and emotional overwhelm. I also supported active retirees seeking to enhance their well-being and maintain their vitality.
