Pam Everitt

As a traditional Chinese acupuncturist I treat not just the symptoms, but the whole person – balancing the mind. body and spirit.

About me

I have practised acupuncture since 2006 and hold clinics in Cheltenham, Stroud and Newent. I trained in Leamington Spa at the College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture founded by Professor J.R. Worsley (1923 -2003). Professor Worsley, a Master of Five Element acupuncture, trained in Taiwan, Singapore and Korea and devoted his life to establishing this profound and effective knowledge. I later completed a two year postgraduate programme with Niki H.Bilton one of the foremost teachers/practitioners of Five Element acupuncture.

I was originally drawn to Five-Element Acupuncture because of its emphasis on treating the whole person rather than focusing solely on the symptoms. In classical Chinese acupuncture, symptoms are seen as the body’s natural response to disease. Only by understanding and treating the underlying disorder can health and harmony be restored.

As a fully qualified member of the British Acupuncture Council, I treat patients of all ages and from all walks of life.

What I offer

Acupuncture originated in China thousands of years ago and is one of the world’s most ancient forms of healing. Its long-term survival is a testament to its effectiveness. It uses the subtle energy Qi, which moves through channels beneath the skin known as meridians. The continuous flow of Qi is essential for health.

When we suffer from illness or disease, our bodies send out distress signals in the form of physical, mental or emotional symptoms. These indicate an imbalance of Qi, which must be corrected in order for health to be restored. Disease or illness can be caused by a number of factors, from traumatic life-events such as the break-up of a marriage or a bereavement, to external factors such as infections, pollution and climatic conditions.

Acupuncture works by treating not just the symptoms, but the whole person. By inserting fine needles into selected points on the body, acupuncturists manipulate the flow of Qi and trigger the body’s natural healing response. In this way, the balance of mind, body and spirit is restored, and health returns.

“Treating the symptoms rather than the disease is like switching off the fire alarm rather than putting out the fire.” J.R. Worsley (1923-2003)
